CONTINUING SUCCESS FOR ‘MY WEDDING AND OTHER SECRETS’

South Pacific Pictures’ feature film My Wedding and Other Secrets has been winning audiences both internationally and locally.

This week the film won the Audience Choice Award for Best International Narrative Feature at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival (USA). The Friars Club is famous for its “roasts” of US celebrities. In August the film won the Audience Choice Award at the 34th Asian American International Film Festival (USA).

My Wedding and Other Secrets is also screening at the prestigious 20th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival in China this week where it is a finalist in the Chinese “Oscars”. Roseanne Liang, Michelle Ang and Cheng Pei Pei are in attendance at the festival.

The film has also been selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Feel Good Film Festival (USA), the Hawaii International Film Festival, the San Diego Asian Film Festival and the Singafest Asian Film Festival (USA).

Locally, My Wedding and Other Secrets has received five nominations in the Aotearoa Film and Television Awards (AFTAs); Best Feature Film, Best Director in a Feature Film (Roseanne Liang), Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film (Matt Whelan), Best Lead Actress in a Feature Film (Michelle Ang) and Best Screenplay for a Feature Film (Roseanne Liang & Angeline Loo). The AFTAs will be announced on November 12, 2011.

My Wedding and Other Secrets was recently named the highest grossing New Zealand feature film for 2010/2011 at the Australian International Movie Convention.
