A drama series based on events surrounding the 1984 snap election in New Zealand, when three years of knife-edge politics come to an abrupt end.
Sir Robert Muldoon calls a snap election, but his gamble fails, and David Lange's victorious Labour Party is elected on an anti-nuclear platform. On taking power they are immediately called to account by a disenchanted United States administration. Pressured from all sides to make a firm stand on Labour's anti-nuclear policy, Lange finally accepts there is no middle ground, taking New Zealand into a new era, adrift from its allies.
