Tuesday May 20, 2008 GO GIRLS, a new 13 x one hour drama series from South Pacific Pictures and written for TV2 by Gavin Strawhan (Burying Brian, Mercy Peak, Being Eve), Rachel Lang (Outrageous Fortune, Maddigan’s Quest, Mercy Peak) and Kate McDermott (Shortland Street, Outrageous Fortune) starts shooting on Monday May 26. GO GIRLS is a primetime comedy/drama series about love, friendship and (bottle) blonde ambition. The series revolves around Amy, Britta and Cody, three young women suffering their quarter century crisis: 25 and what have they achieved? They have just made a vow that in one year they’ll fulfill their individual ambitions to be... rich, famous and married. Kevin, their mate-since-childhood, admires their pluck but, to be honest, since Amy, Britta and Cody are currently ‘Tragically Poor’, ‘Tragically Unknown’, and ‘Tragically Single’, he reckons it’s going to be a bit of an ask. Anna Hutchison (Shortland Street, Power Rangers, Orange Roughies) stars as Amy, the princess who lost her castle, but who’s determined to get it back. Newcomers Alix Bushnell and Bronwyn Turei star as Britta and Cody respectively: Britta desperately wants to be famous; Cody’s goal is to be married…which may require her being several dress sizes smaller, and oh, also finding someone to ask her. Jay Ryan (Neighbours, Sea Patrol, Interrogation, Being Eve) stars as the girls’ best mate, Kevin, who reckons he wants things to stay as they are. But is he telling the truth? He loves these three girls more than anything - though one more than the others... GO GIRLS is a sexy, funny, romantic series about three women, with very big dreams, as seen through the eyes of their best mate, the chronically non-ambitious Kevin. The 13 x one hour series is being produced by Chris Bailey (Street Legal, Doves of War) for South Pacific Pictures. Directors include Katie Wolfe, Angela Bloomfield and Britta Johnstone. The production, which will be based at a studio in Auckland’s North Shore, has received funding from NZ on Air and will screen on TV2 in 2008. |
