Outrageous Fortune was the big winner at the 2007 Qantas Awards winning five of the top drama categories. The Qantas Television Awards honour outstanding New Zealand television production in general television as well as news and current affairs. South Pacific Pictures' Outrageous Fortune was named Best Drama while lead actress Robyn Malcolm won the award for Best Actress. The judges praised Robyn for being "a consummate actress who dominates the screen in her role as Cheryl West. Outrageous Fortune has characters that you want to come back and watch week after week." Antony Starr (who plays Van and Jethro West) was named Best Actor with the judges saying he "inhabits the role like no-one else could; he has the gift of charisma as well as talent". Series co-creator and Executive Producer James Griffin won the Best Script award and Bryan Shaw won the award for Best Editing (non-factual). And it wasn't just the judges who cast their votes for Outrageous Fortune. In the publicly voted Woman's Day Readers' Choice categories, the show was voted Favourite New Zealand Drama and Robyn Malcolm was named Favourite Female Personality. |
