Kidnapped watched by 11 Million UK Viewers

Kidnapped, the CBBC and South Pacific Pictures' adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure novel, attracted critical acclaim and excellent ratings when it screened on BBC1 in March. The three part series averaged an audience of 3.7 million (a 19% share) amongst all individuals, a cumulative audience of 11.1 million.

Kidnapped impressed the British television media who described the drama as must-see event television, praising its dramatic content and production values. The series was produced by South Pacific Pictures for the CBBC and was filmed in New Zealand last year.

Kidnapped features an all-star cast, including Iain Glen as Alan Breck and James Anthony Pearson as Davie Balfour, along with Paul McGann as Colonel MacNab, Adrian Dunbar as Uncle Ebenezer, Gregor Fisher as James of the Glens and Kirstin Coulter Smith as Catriona.

New Zealand actors featured in the series include John Bach, John Leigh, Emily Barclay, Ginette McDonald, Gavin Richards, Lee Tuson, and Andrew Robertt.

John Barnett, Kidnapped's executive producer for South Pacific Pictures, said: "Everyone involved in this production did a terrific job bringing Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel to the small screen. We are delighted that the BBC chose to film Kidnapped in New Zealand, and are thrilled that the series has made such a big impact on UK viewers."

At times funny and always atmospheric, with an all-star cast including Iain Glen, Gregor Fisher and Paul McGann, this three-part adaptation deserves to be every viewer's Sunday tea-time fixture."
