South Pacific Pictures' flagship production Shortland Street made New Zealand television history on June 13, 2006 when its 3500th episode was broadcast on TV2. In the fourteen years since the first episode of Shortland Street screened on May 25, 1992 the high-rating hospital drama has become a New Zealand institution, inspiring study guides, web sites, theses, exhibitions, and much speculation over the nation's coffee cups. South Pacific Pictures congratulates and thanks the cast and crew of Shortland Street, our friends at TV2, and the audience, for making Shortland Street the most successful drama series in New Zealand television history. |
