Keisha Castle-Hughes has been nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in Whale Rider, announced early this morning.

Keisha is the youngest Best Actress nominee in the history of the Academy Awards. The nomination comes less than two months before her 14th birthday.

Other nominees in the Best Actress category are Diane Keaton (Something's Gotta Give); Charlize Theron (Monster); Naomi Watts (21 Grams); and Samantha Morton (Lost In America).
